Take advantage of opportunities to hear from School Board candidates

As you know, I believe the August 26 and November 4 School Board elections are among the most important opportunities Collier County voters will have this year to influence our future. I’ll be blogging quite a bit about the candidates in the coming weeks, and plan to share who I will be voting for in time for absentee voters to consider my endorsements.

I hope my posts so far have raised your awareness of some of what’s at stake, enough so that you’ll want to take advantage of one or more opportunities to meet and hear from the candidates themselves.

For those who are out of town, I encourage you to watch the League of Women Voters of Collier County’s candidate forums recorded on Thursday, July 10. Click here to access the Video Archive.

If you’re in town, try to make it to one of the Forums and talk to the candidates in person. I’ve spent time with all but one of them (you’ll read about these meetings in the coming weeks) and I can tell you, nothing beats the in-person conversation!

These are the upcoming events I’m aware of. I’ve included links to some of the sponsors you may not be familiar with or know they are active in our community. (I wasn’t.) I encourage your to click through and check them out.

I attended one of the two Forums sponsored by SWFL Citizens Alliance and found it to be quite interesting.  I also attended the League of Women Voters Forum mentioned above.

Do try to make it to one of these upcoming events … and let me know what you think!
