The League of Women Voters of Collier County will hold candidate forums for the Board of County Commission District 4 race and the School Board Races for Districts 1,3, and 5. All of these candidates will be on the ballot for the Primary Election on August 26.
The Forum for Commission District 4 will be held on Wednesday, July 9 in The Board of County [Commission] Chamber at 3299 Tamiami Trail E. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the Forum will be conducted from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The two candidates, Lavigne Kirkpatrick and Penny Taylor will be available for meet and greet briefly before the forum and afterwards. You will be eligible to vote in this election, if you live in District 4, regardless of your political party. The winner will be determined in August.
The Forum for the School District races will be held on Thursday, July 10 in the Board of County Commission Chamber at 3299 Tamiami Trail, E. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the forum will be conducted from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. The candidate must live in the District they represent, but all registered Collier County voters will vote in all three races. The winner must receive 50% of the vote plus one to be elected in August. If that threshold is not met, the top two candidates will face off on the November ballot. The candidates for District 1 seat are Kathleen Greenawalt, Kelly Lichter and Jacob Winge. The candidates for District 3 are Luis Bernal, Erika Donalds, J.B. Holmes, and Kathy Ryan. The candidates for District 5 are Thomas Andler and Roy Terry, III.
We encourage an in-person audience. The Forums will be broadcast live on Comcast Government Channel 97. They will also be available in the Video archive on the Collier County website, http://www.colliergov.net.
Voters will be able to vote at early voting locations August 14-August 23 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Vote by mail in ballot if you request the ballot, or vote in your own precinct on election day, August 26. You must be registered to vote by July 28. Mail in ballots will begin going out on July 22.
